The South African Swimming Team dominate the CANA Zone 3 Swimming Championships in Sudan
Kaydn Naidoo (15) and Tully Njoroge (16) proved an unstoppable force in the 50 and 100m backstroke as well as the 200m breaststroke, bagging the gold and silver in all three races in 30.21 and 30.89, 1:06.94 and 1:09.37 and 2:41.39 and 2:47.36, respectively.
Naidoo also added the 100m freestyle gold to his tally, clocking 58.74.
Gauteng’s Kuhlekonke Mkhize (14) walked away with one gold and three silver medals, finishing first in the 100m backstroke in 1:11.11 and second in the 50m backstroke in 33.46, the 100m freestyle in 1:01.14 and the 200m breaststroke in 2:55.27.
On the ladies’ side, Erica Sibande (15) was once again in top form, claiming three more gold medals, this time in the 100m backstroke in 1:16.28, the 50m backstroke in 35.71 and the 100m freestyle in 1:11.23.
Leah Christie (13) and Lerato Thobeha (14) were the silver and bronze duo in the 200m breaststroke and 100m freestyle, touching the wall in 3:02.53 and 3:23.79 and 1:09.86 and 1:10.47, respectively.
Christie grabbed two more bronze medals in the 100m backstroke in 1:21.01 and the 50m backstroke in 35.95.
The CANA Zone 3 Swimming Championships will conclude tomorrow.
