Gold for Tatjana Schoenmaker during the first day of the FINA Swimming World Cup in Tokyo
Tokyo, Friday, 2nd August 2019 - Tatjana Schoenmaker won her first FINA Swimming World Cup gold medal as the Series kicked off at Tokyo’s Tatsumi International Swimming Center today.

Schoenmaker bagged the gold in the 200m breaststroke with an impressive new World Cup record time of 2:22.35, shedding 0.52secs from Viktoria Gunes’ 2015 time of 2:22.87.

The silver and bronze in the race went to Japan’s Reona Aoki and Spain’s Jessica Vall Montero in 2:24.33 and 2:25.32, respectively.

Schoenmaker will take on the 100m breaststroke tomorrow.
