Day 03 of the SA Level 3 National Age Group Swimming Championships
Port Elizabeth, Sunday, 20th March 2016 - KZN’s Luca Holtzhausen and the talented youngsters of Mzansi continued to impress during the third day of the SA Level 3 National Age Group Swimming Championships, taking place at the Newton Park Swimming Pool in Port Elizabeth.

The 12 year old was fastest in the 50m butterfly, the 100m breaststroke and the 100m freestyle, clocking 29.49, 1:13.09 and 58.69 respectively, to bring his total to seven gold medals in three days of competition.

Cape Town’s Rebecca Meder (13) was on point in the 100m breaststroke and 400m individual medley, winning the races in 1:14.94 and 4:58.91, respectively, while adding two silver medals to her tally in the 50m butterfly in 29.35 and the 100m freestyle in 59.10.

Zane Waddell (18) was more than happy with his two gold medals tonight, clocking 24.79 in the 50m butterfly and 51.19 in the 100m freestyle.

In the 14 year age group category, Hanim Abrahams came first in the 100m breaststroke in 1:11.97 and also went on to scoop the bronze in the 400m individual medley in 5:11.31, while Gauteng’s Marizel van Jaarsveld (16) was victorious in the 100m freestyle in 59.71 and won bronze in the 100m breaststroke in 1:15.19 and the 50m butterfly in 29.60.

13 year old Ruan Breytenbach bagged two gold medals, winning the 50m butterfly in 27.80 and the 100m breaststroke in 1:10.55, while his silver medal came in the 400m individual medley in 4:43.35.

The SA Level 3 National Age Group Swimming Championships continue tomorrow with the heats session starting at 08h30 and the finals at 17h00.
