The SA men’s Water Polo side make World Championships history on the thirteenth day of the 16th FINA World Championships in Kazan

“I am an extremely proud coach after today’s performance from the men. We competed on the big stage for the majority of the game and fought to the end.
“We can measure the growth of the team by directly comparing the two games we played against them at this event. Chalk and cheese so to speak.” said the head coach, Paul Martin.
South Africa scored through Pierre le Roux (three), Jon Marc De Carvalho (two) and two goals from Nicholas Molyneux, while the goals from Kazakhstan came from Alexandr Axenov (seven), Sergey Gubarev (one), Alexey Shmider (one) and Rustam Ukumanov (one).
On the swimming side, Cameron van der Burgh tried his hand at the 200m breaststroke and finished 21st in the morning heats with a time of 2:.12.37.
Chad le Clos will be back in the water tomorrow as he takes on the 100m butterfly.
