The Berlin leg of the FINA Swimming World Cup was held over the weekend and Kyla Blakemore, Rourke McGrath and Lucian Matthysen represented South Africa at the three day competition.

McGrath swam in the heats of the 50 and 100m breaststroke, where he finished 21st and 35th in 30.52 and 1:11.19, respectively, while in the 50m freestyle he concluded 54th in 25.15 and 48th in the 50m butterfly, clocking 27.18.

Matthysen, on the other hand, came in 33rd in the 50m freestyle in 23.69 and 28th in the 100m freestyle in 51.63.

On the ladies’ side, Blakemore took on the 50, 100 and 200m backstroke heats, and finished 16th in both the 50 and 100m events in 30.24 and 1:05.69, respectively, while the 200m saw her finish in 15th place in 2:25.88 and 34th in the 50m butterfly in 30.88.

The final two legs of the FINA Swimming World Cup will be held in Kazan from 1st to 3rd November and Doha from 7th to 9th November 2019.
